Windows Users Hit by Blue Screen of Death After CrowdStrike Update

CrowdStrike Update Causing Widespread BSOD on Windows Machines

Numerous Windows users have reported experiencing Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors after installing a recent CrowdStrike update. According to user reports and a pinned message on CrowdStrike's community forum, the issue appears to be widespread.

Possible Solutions

CrowdStrike has acknowledged the issue and provided several potential solutions:

  • Uninstall CrowdStrike and reinstall it.
  • Uninstall and reinstall igdkmd64.sys Intel GPU drivers.

Additionally, CrowdStrike has identified another potential cause of BSOD related to sensor 658 in July 2023. Users are advised to verify that their hosts LMHost service is enabled, as it may be disabled if TCPIP NetBIOS Helper is disabled.

Some users have also reported that Tanium may be consuming excessive resources, leading to CPU and memory exhaustion and potential BSOD crashes. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause and resolve the issue.
