The Acting Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), David Cooper, has announced the theme of the 2024 edition of the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB). This year's theme, "Celebrating 30 Years of Action for Biodiversity," aims to raise awareness and galvanize action to protect and conserve the planet's biodiversity.

The United Nations proclaimed May 22 as the International Day for Biological Diversity to foster understanding and recognition of the importance of biodiversity for human well-being. The day provides an opportunity to celebrate the progress made in safeguarding biodiversity and to call for further collective efforts to address the current biodiversity crisis.
