Heavy rains have caused widespread flooding in Dubai, submerging vehicles and stranding motorists. The storm, which began late Tuesday evening, dumped inches of rain in a short period of time. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert warning, urging residents to stay indoors and avoid driving.
Many areas of the city were affected by the flooding, including major highways and residential neighborhoods. Several vehicles were seen submerged in floodwaters, and motorists were forced to abandon their cars. Dubai Police advised drivers to avoid flooded areas and to follow traffic updates from the NCM.
The heavy rains also caused power outages in some parts of the city. The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) said that crews were working to restore power as quickly as possible. Residents were urged to conserve water and electricity during the outage.
The flooding has also disrupted travel plans for many residents. Dubai International Airport (DXB) was forced to cancel and delay flights due to the weather conditions. Passengers were advised to check with their airlines for the latest flight information.
The heavy rains are expected to continue for the next few days. The NCM has issued a yellow alert warning, urging residents to remain cautious and to avoid flooded areas.
